Education aspirations woefully short on detail

Liberal Democrats Schools and Skills spokesperson Hugh O’Donnell MSP criticised the SNP for producing such a vague set of aspirations about international education.

Commenting, Mr O’Donnell said:

“Liberal Democrats believe that international education should be central to the Scottish curriculum. Scotland has a proud tradition and reputation for being international in outlook and the Government must consider how this approach is embedded in all schools.

“The Government’s aspirations for international education are full of well meaning platitudes and warm words, but woefully short on detail.
Significantly, the Government has failed to outline how it will deliver, or indeed how it expects teachers and schools to deliver on such a woolly set of ambitions.

“Liberal Democrats are suggesting a national language strategy that will make a real difference to young people. When will the SNP stop relying on opposition parties to provide detailed suggestions and bring forward its own concrete proposals to improve education?”
