Responding to the admission from the Health Secretary that there were serious shortcomings by NHS Grampian in dealing with terminal cancer sufferer Mike Gray, Liberal Democrat Shadow Health Secretary Ross Finnie MSP said:
“We have to strive to reach a position whereby patients gain access to the drugs that are most appropriate to their condition.
“I welcome the Cabinet Secretary’s admission that Grampian Health Board was wrong to deny Mike Gray treatment on the NHS.
“For this not to be repeated, however, calls for the Cabinet Secretary to issue clear and objective guidance to Health Boards.”
