Commenting on the news that Goldfish is closing its customer service centre in Cumbernauld, with the loss of 900 jobs, Liberal Democrat MSP for Central Scotland, Hugh O’Donnell said:
“This will be devastating news for many individuals and families in Cumbernauld.
“I have spoken to the Enterprise Minister asking him to set up and chair a taskforce to find alternative employment or fast-track training for those affected by the closure of the Goldfish customer service centre in Cumbernauld.
“Close to 1,300 job losses in Lanarkshire have been announced in the last two and a half weeks. It is incumbent on all politicians, the local authority and the Scottish Government to work together and support the individuals and families affected by these job losses.”
