Liberal Democrat Chief Whip Robert Brown MSP has condemned the Scottish Government’s superficial approach to making Scotland’s public services more effective.

MSPs are debating effective public services in the Scottish Parliament today.

Commenting, Mr Brown said:

“Of course Liberal Democrats support the principle of streamlined and effective public services. We don’t, however, support the SNP’s superficial approach, which we believe has been driven by financial targets, rather than the principles of good governance.

“It is time for the SNP Government to bring coherence and order to their programme of streamlining public services. They should bring the most significant of these proposals to Parliament for debate. Above all, I would encourage them to get into the habit of consulting first and deciding later, rather than the other way round.”
