Commenting on the Prime Minister’s failure to support Wendy Alexander’s proposal for a referendum on Scottish independence, Nicol Stephen, Leader of the Liberal Democrats in Scotland, said:

“It is clear that there is utter chaos at the top of the Labour Party. The Prime Minister has completely failed to support Wendy Alexander’s call for an immediate referendum.

“This is very close to meltdown. Nobody knows what Labour stands for anymore and its leadership is in disarray.”
