Commenting on a report from Aberdeen University explaining the high rate of obesity in Scotland as the result of a vitamin D deficiency, Liberal Democrat Public Health spokesperson Jamie Stone MSP said:
“Although this study makes some interesting observations, Scots can’t just blame inclement weather for soaring obesity rates.
“A combination of eating more healthily, drinking less and taking more exercise is the best route to tackling obesity.
“Liberal Democrats also want to see healthy living campaigns focusing on young people. It’s important to catch young people at an early stage before poor lifestyle choices become ingrained.”
