Commenting on the SNP Government's latest re-announcement of investment in affordable homes, Liberal Democrat Housing spokesperson Jamie Stone MSP said:

"Today's announcement is not new money or a new solution. It is simply yet another missed opportunity from the SNP to tackle Scotland's shortage of affordable housing.

"Housing Associations are still having to find almost half the money required to get homes built. Ministers still refuse to give details about their proposals to tackle this black hole in funding.

"I have lost count of the times the money has been re-announced. But, we are still waiting for real action from this Government.

"Instead of a statement on recycled funding the Minister should have announced that the Government would drop the flawed lead developer model as it increases bureaucracy at the expense of more houses, particularly in rural areas."
