Biography
Iain Smith MSP was elected to the first Scottish Parliament in May 1999 to represent his home constituency of North East Fife.
Before becoming an MSP, Iain was a Councillor and Leader of the Liberal Democrats on Fife Council. Iain was also Constituency Organiser for North East Fife Liberal Democrats, and had been Menzies Campbell MP's Constituency Agent.
During his time at Holyrood, Iain has been Convenor of the Education Committee and Convenor of the Procedures Committee. He was also Deputy Minister for Parliament between 1999 and 2000.
Iain has a broad interest in sports, particularly cricket and football, and is a regular viewer of live cricket. He likes to travel widely and enjoys reading as well as having a keen interest in culture.
