Biography
Margaret Smith is an experienced campaigner who has been the
local Member of the Scottish Parliament since 1999. In the 1999 and 2003 elections she defeated former Tory MP Lord James Douglas- Hamilton who is not standing again for Holyrood.
Margaret has lived in West Edinburgh for more than forty years and lives locally with her partner, son, daughter and 3 stepsons. Three of her children attend local schools. When she gets time away from politics she enjoys reading crime thrillers, travelling and spending time with her family. A very occasional golfer she is a long time member of Ravelston Golf Club. She is also vice President of Queensferry Churches Care in the Community Project.
