A&E waiting times amongst worst in 2023
Responding to new figures showing only 60.9% of people attending A&E were seen within the 4 hour target in the week ending 10th December, with 3,800 people waiting over 8 hours, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader and health spokesperson Alex Cole-Hamilton said:
"The disastrous waiting times in our A&E departments make it clear Humza Yousaf's NHS Recovery Plan has failed.
"NHS staff are working flat out to give people the care they need but they simply don’t have the beds, safe staffing and resources they need. They have been sounding the alarm for months but the SNP/Green Government just isn’t listening.
"Scotland needs a government laser focused on the day job and that will put the voices of staff first.
"That means overhauling the NHS Recovery Plan, bringing forward an urgent inquiry into the hundreds of avoidable deaths linked to the emergency care crisis and implementing measures which will meaningfully tackle burnout among staff.”
