Cole-Hamilton comments on embargoed flu deaths analysis

Responding to the embargoed analysis that flu deaths in Scotland have reached a 45-year high, Scottish Liberal Democrat health spokesperson Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP said:

“This is a grave hallmark of the SNP’s neglect of our health service. The government have clearly taken their eye off the ball because vaccine uptake is far from what it should be.

“By allowing backlogs, waiting lists and staff shortages to become the norm, the SNP have made it incredibly difficult for patients to get the care they need.

“Scottish Liberal Democrats want to see preventative action that will help patients and ease pressures. That’s why in this year's budget we fought hard to secure more support for people with respiratory conditions, including Long Covid. It’s now down to the Health Secretary to deliver on that support."
