Cole-Hamilton kicks off election tour in Highlands
Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP has today promised that his party will deliver for communities and end years of SNP neglect as he campaigned in the Highlands – the first stop on his campaign tour ahead of the forthcoming general election.
Mr Cole-Hamilton is campaigning alongside Angus MacDonald, the Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for Inverness, Skye and West Ross-shire.
The seat is one of the top targets for the Scottish Liberal Democrats at the next general election. It takes in many of the same communities as Charles Kennedy’s former constituency, which the Liberal Democrats are working hard to win back from the SNP.
Alex Cole-Hamilton will then campaign with Jamie Stone MP in the Far North.
Mr Cole-Hamilton said:
“The SNP have delivered next to nothing for people in the Highlands, hammering council budgets, cutting agriculture funding and dualling the A9 at a snail’s pace.
“I am so proud to be kicking off this election tour with our candidate, Angus MacDonald. Angus represents what Liberal Democrats do best - a passion for his community and public service backed by hard work and commitment. He has been campaigning tirelessly to improve dangerous roads, invest in infrastructure, end long journeys for NHS treatment and rejuvenate local high streets.
“This is the kind of dedication that people can expect all year round if they back the Scottish Liberal Democrats.
“Everybody knows that this seat is going to be a straight fight between my party and the nationalists. At the forthcoming election, local people deserve someone who will put their interests first, and they will find that fresh start in local Liberal Democrat Angus MacDonald.”
