Cole-Hamilton on the campaign trail in Rutherglen and Hamilton West
Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP has today visited Rutherglen and Hamilton West to campaign for Gloria Adebo, the party’s candidate in the upcoming by-election.
As well as pressing for action on health and social care, Ms Adebo has been urging the government to help people struggling with mortgages, tackle rising food prices and challenging the Scottish Government to reverse plans for steep rises in council tax.
Mr Cole-Hamilton said:
“I am absolutely delighted to be out on the doors in Rutherglen and Hamilton West supporting Gloria in the campaign.
“Liberal Democrats are a growing force in South Lanarkshire, tripling our representation on the council at the last local election. Increasingly, it is the Liberal Democrats who are a dynamic part of the way forward.
“This by-election is a chance for people to vote for a Liberal Democrat representative who will stand up for communities and demand action on the issues that matter to them, from the cost of living to the state of our NHS."
Gloria Adebo said:
“After years of difficulty and disaster from incompetent governments in London and Edinburgh, it's time to rethink our politics.
"Scottish Liberal Democrats want a clean break. We want to bring down bills amid a biting cost of living, invest in social care staff and services and ensure that people can get an ambulance or see a doctor when they need one.
“Unlike the SNP, we won’t pretend that the problems facing people right now could somehow be solved by putting up more barriers with separation. Rather than perpetuate division, Scottish Liberal Democrats would work in partnership across the United Kingdom, strengthen ties with our European neighbours and build a better way forward together."
“By doing this, Liberal Democrats will continue to show that we are a positive force for change."
