Cole-Hamilton responds to discovery of RAAC in hundreds of Dundee homes
Responding to reports that inspections have found the dangerous concrete RAAC present in 81 blocks of flats and 293 cottages in council wards across Dundee, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP said:
“Dundee is now the latest city to uncover problems with RAAC, so it is incredibly frustrating to see that the government’s response is still falling short.
“Yet again, we have clear evidence that flies in the face of the Scottish Government's dismissive claims that there is nothing to see here. I struggle to think of what more needs to happen before ministers take real action.
“Cash-strapped local authorities cannot be expected to bear the costs of removals and repairs alone.
“It is time for the SNP government to get their heads out of the sand, listen to our calls and urgently establish a fund that councils, health boards and public bodies can tap into to remove this dangerous concrete.”
