Cole-Hamilton responds to "unprecedented" report into state of social care
Responding to the embargoed report from the Accounts Commission which warns that community health and social care faces rising unmet need, Integrated Joint Board funding decreased in real terms, vacancies are at a record high and that a quarter of staff leave jobs within their first three months, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader and health spokesperson Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP said:
“When it comes to social care, the SNP can’t get the basics right. They are totally out of ideas and have got to go.
“Only Scottish Liberal Democrats have a plan to fix the crisis in social care, relieving pressure on the NHS through a minimum wage for care workers that is £2 higher.
“This would have the added benefit of freeing up space in our hospitals so that people can get treatment faster."
