Cole-Hamilton: SNP ministerial disinterest leaving A&E in crisis
Responding to new figures showing only 59.7% of people attending A&E were seen within the 4 hour target in the week ending 8th December, while 3,878 people waited over 8 hours and 1,802 waited over 12 hours, Scottish Liberal Democrat Leader and health spokesperson Alex Cole-Hamilton said:
"Under the SNP's failed NHS Recovery plan, we are not just seeing conditions fail to improve in the NHS, they're getting worse. This is now the second week in a row that over 10,000 people waited more than 4 hours at A&E.
"SNP ministerial disinterest has let conditions in A&E remain at crisis levels for far too long. These waits are intolerable for staff and patients alike. We need to see the Scottish Government finally take some urgent action to address this situation.
"Scottish Liberal Democrats would overhaul the SNP’s failed NHS Recovery Plan, get you fast access to GPs and help people leave hospital on time through a new UK-wide minimum wage for care workers that is £2 higher."
