Responding to the confirmation from minister Maree Todd that reform of NHS dentistry is being delayed due to the SNP leadership election, Scottish Liberal Democrat health spokesperson Alex Cole-Hamilton said:

"Vital public services are being shamefully neglected due to the SNP's ongoing meltdown.

"There has been a surge in the number of people contacting our councillors and MSPs to say that they cannot get an NHS dentist.

“Scottish Liberal Democrats believe that we need quality dental care in every community. Toothcare should not just be for those who can afford to go private.

"Dentists will be praying that their futures are not in the hands of the SNP for much longer.

"With the sands of Scottish politics shifting there is a huge opportunity for us to let the public know that Scottish Liberal Democrats are on their side."
