Jardine calls for health, insulation and whisky in Autumn Statement
Speaking ahead of the Chancellor's Autumn Statement, Liberal Democrat Scottish Affairs spokesperson Christine Jardine MP said:
"With the equivalent of 1 in 7 Scots on an NHS waiting lists, health board deficits worsening and the economy bumping along the bottom, it's clear that Scotland is facing big problems.
"The UK government has the opportunity to lend a helping hand to hard up families. Investing in our health service would help to get more people off waiting lists and back to work providing a much needed boost to the economy. A national insulation programme would bring down bills while freezing spirit duty would support an important Scottish industry.
"For months the Prime Minister has signalled that he clearly doesn’t care about the millions of people across the country on hospital waiting lists or the families and pensioners struggling to get appointments with a GP or dentist. It's time his Chancellor changed course.
"Scottish Liberal Democrats will use every opportunity to press for action on the NHS and the cost of living."
