Jardine comments on rising levels of Islamophobia

Responding to a report published by anti-hate crime charity Tell MAMA, which has recorded the highest number of anti-Muslim hate cases since its founding, Liberal Democrat Equalities Spokesperson Christine Jardine MP said:
“These figures are as shocking as they are heartbreaking. Islamophobia has no place in our society, and we owe it to British Muslim communities to do everything we can to stamp it out.
“We cannot allow this type of hatred to fester. The government must take urgent action to address this - starting by finally appointing an Independent Adviser on Islamophobia and adopting a formal definition of Islamophobia.
“British Muslim communities deserve so much better, and it’s clear that we cannot wait any longer for decisive action to combat Islamophobia.”
