Jardine: Tear down barriers to trade for business
Liberal Democrat candidate for Edinburgh West, Christine Jardine, today said that tearing down the Conservatives' damaging barriers to trade is at the “very heart” of her party’s plans to support businesses and deliver for the economy.
During a campaign visit to seafood bar and takeaway Joppa Rocks at the end of the Portobello promenade, the Liberal Democrat candidate outlined her party’s plans to help businesses recover from the damage done by Brexit.
She highlighted the trade restrictions and said:
“The damage caused by the Conservatives’ hard Brexit has been immeasurable and is felt every day been by businesses the length and breadth of Scotland.
"Everyone from large scale food producers to small businesses has been hit.
“Meanwhile, the SNP have also made life harder for business, with issues like their botched deposit return scheme.
“My party know that if we want to support and lift up Scottish businesses, we need to fix the economy, make conditions easier and part of that will be repairing our relationship with the EU.
“With every Liberal Democrat you elect, you will get a strong voice who will stand up for business by addressing the issues they care about and fixing our broken relationship with Europe, removing barriers and unlocking a wealth of opportunities for our economy."
