McArthur responds to Audit Scotland climate report
Responding to Audit Scotland’s report on the government's delivery of climate goals, which indicates that there are “gaps in reports” and that there has been “no workforce plan for climate change since the Net Zero department was established in late 2021,” Scottish Liberal Democrat climate emergency spokesperson Liam McArthur MSP said:
“This report provides further confirmation of the government’s continued failure to get to grips with tackling the climate emergency.
“SNP and Green Ministers’ ongoing support for Heathrow expansion, missed emission reduction targets, lack of collaboration with either the UK Government or local authorities are all holding Scotland back from achieving our climate goals.
“We are also now seeing this SNP-Green government happily dumping sewage into our rivers, shipping waste south of the border and making up figures about Scotland’s renewables sector.
“Scottish Liberal Democrats believe that we need a laser-like focus on the environment. That means launching an emergency nationwide insulation programme for homes and buildings, introducing measures to boost the uptake of EVs and removing barriers to the faster rollout of solar power.”
