Rennie responds as school strikes set to go ahead next week
Responding to reports that Unison has rejected the latest pay for school staff, meaning that cleaners and janitors will walk out for three days from Tuesday, Scottish Liberal Democrat education spokesperson Willie Rennie said:
"In the wake of the pandemic, children cannot afford to miss any more education.
"These strikes are becoming a yearly occurrence and the reason for this is years of SNP/Green cuts to local authority budgets.
"The Education Secretary can no longer justify sitting on the side lines twiddling her thumbs. She needs to step up to the plate and sort out these strikes.”
