Rennie responds to ineffective behaviour plan for schools

Responding to a survey by the NASUWT which reports that the Scottish Government’s national plan to tackle violence in schools is having little impact, with the number of pupils being physically abusive or violent in schools having increased in the last 12 months, Scottish Liberal Democrat Willie Rennie MSP said:
“It seems this plan is a paper-thin platitude.
“The SNP Education Secretary has failed to give schools the necessary resources to respond effectively to school violence. It has left teachers and headteachers feeling abandoned.
“Liberal Democrats secured more funding for additional support needs in this year’s budget, but now it’s up to the government to come good on that commitment. The Education Secretary must properly engage with schools, providing them with clear guidance on boundaries and consequences so that young people know what is expected of them.”
