Rennie responds to new Scottish Government business plan
Responding to the publication of the Scottish Government’s New Deal for Business Group Implementation Plan, Scottish Liberal Democrat economy spokesperson Willie Rennie said:
“The First Minister signed a deal with local government to respect and protect their funding settlement then tore it up the first time he needed a helpful headline.
“His government announced that they would raise taxes on larger properties then junked them. The deposit return scheme; highly protected marine areas; the list of u-turns goes on and on.
“While efforts to curb runaway red tape are long overdue, why should businesses believe that these plans won’t simply be ripped up or abandoned at the first opportunity?
“This is what happens when you have a First Minister and a government with no real ideological compass other than independence. Humza Yousaf needs to point his government towards a business-friendly future because after 16 years of the SNP in charge, the Scottish economy is bouncing along the bottom.”
