SNP and Greens vote down Lib Dem proposals for an emergency insulation programme
Speaking after the SNP and Greens voted down Scottish Liberal Democrat proposals for an emergency insulation programme during a debate on the climate crisis this afternoon, Scottish Liberal Democrat rural affairs spokesperson Beatrice Wishart MSP said:
“It is incredibly frustrating that the SNP and Greens have chosen to oppose sensible proposals that would cut household costs, reduce emissions and lower energy demand.
“Reporting in December 2022, the Climate Change Committee stated that the lack of a coordinated approach and strong direction from the Scottish Government was holding back efforts to reduce emissions.
“Now, the Prime Minister risks putting the UK at the back of the queue as the rest of the world races to embrace the industries of tomorrow.
“There is so much more that the Scottish Government could do with the powers they have. Today, however, they have displayed a stubborn unwillingness to even try.”
