Commenting on the fact that three weeks have passed and the First Minister has yet to announce whether he will refer himself to the Independent Adviser on the Scottish Ministerial Code, with the Scottish Government still unable to explain claims Humza Yousaf made in a letter to Parliament, Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Alex Cole-Hamilton MSP said:

“No amount of transatlantic trips or by-elections will make this go away.

“The ministerial code is very clear: ministers who knowingly mislead Parliament will be expected to offer their resignation.

“Out of respect for Parliament, I would expect the First Minister to stop the radio silence and give this matter the attention it deserves."
